The Prince and the Turtle  There once was a young prince who roamed his father's kingdom freely. This boy always had guards protecting him at all times. These men had strict orders from the king to obey whatever the boy decided. One day, the boy was wandering the a small forest and came across a charming little pond. The boy grew fond of the little pond and returned everyday for the next week.  One of the young princes favorite things to do was to throw rocks across the water and hear the rocks skip across the surface of the water. The boy eventually became very bored of skipping rocks and began aiming at innocent animals. One day, Turtle decided to sun bathe on a beautiful lily pad. As he soaked up the warmth of the sun and the perfect breeze he was knocked over the lily pad into the water. Luckily, he plopped his head inside his turtle shell. The force of the rock sent him skipping across the water onto the other side of the pond. The boy seeing the turtle flying became very exc

Brothers Grimm: Rumpelstiltskin Once upon a time, there was a miller who was poor but had a beautiful daughter. Now it happened that he got into a conversation with the king.  To impress the king, he said, " I have a daughter who can spin straw into gold." The king replied, " That is such a great gift and art. If you say your daughter is as skillful as you say she is, then bring her to my castle and I will put her to the test. When the girl was brought to him, he led her to a room that was filled in its entirety with straw. He gave her a spindle wheel and a reel. He said, " Get to work now. Spin all night, and if by morning you have not spun this straw into gold, then you shall have to die." Then he locked the room, and there she stood all alone. The poor miller's daughter sat there and for her life, she did not know what to do. She had no idea how to spin straw into gold. Her fear grew by the minute and she broke down and cried. suddenly, th

Alice was getting tired of sitting by her sister on the bank. It was so boring doing nothing. She would sometimes peek into the book her sister was reading and see that it had no pictures or conversations.  She thought about how boring a book would be without pictures or conversations. She tried entertaining herself and thinking of something to do to not be so bored. It was hard to think of anything because of how hot it was, it made her think slower and sleepy. She considered if the trouble of picking up daisies is worth making a daisy chain. while she was pondering this, a white rabbit appeared out of nowhere and ran close by her. He had white fluffy fur and had big bright pink eyes. The Rabbit seemed in a rush and would say to itself " Oh dear! Oh, dear! I am running late! I need to hurry!"  He took out his pocket watched and his big pink eyes widened even more. Then he took off in a hurried manner. Alice looked at the rabbit and thought I've never seen a rabbit

How the Chameleon Gained It's Colors

Image
There once was a time when the Chameleon did not have the ability to change into many different colors. He grew tired of not having something special like the other animals. Chameleon would look at the tiger who had its stripes and strength. He would see the butterfly with so many different colors and designs and was amazed by the peacock who had its beautiful colors and feathers. One day, it walked sadly among a path thinking of how unremarkable it was compared to the other special animals. He grew so pensive, he wasn't thinking about what time it was or the direction he was walking. He eventually walked among a meadow that had a small pond. There was a rainbow that ended right on the surface of the pond. The colors were so vibrant they would reflect on the pond. He saw everything around him and was amazed by the beauty. He wished to be something as beautiful as this one day. He walked to the pond and decided he wanted to bathe in the colorful water where it was not too deep for

Sometimes she would go off on herself by herself for many hours and when she returned, her eyes had the look of one who has dwelt in the secret places and seen things strange and mysterious.  Some people would

He also would skim the waters of the lake in his birch-bark canoe. He knew much more than that what he solely knew on his own. week 8 comments and feedback

Image
overall I feel like the comments I have been receiving have been helpful, respectful, and kind. I find it most useful when people suggest ways I can improve my writing or give ideas for alternative routes. I also appreciate grammatical corrections because I tend to struggle with those. I feel like the feedback I have been giving has been okay. There is still room for improvement and adjusting to giving feedback. Sometimes I feel bad suggesting something but I am definitely getting better! I think the best area where I give feedback is suggesting alternative paths to take in a story. The feedback I receive and also see in other people's walls have helped me to correct some of my own mistakes and catch the same corrections in other people's work.  I enjoy blog comments! I do feel like I am starting to recognize people and connect with them. I think my introduction is fine and I hope people enjoy reading my stories! Feedback Cat

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
Quote I would say I enjoy the assignment every week! I have never blogged before and I never thought of myself as tech-savvy. Due to my lack of experience, I would say I am happy with my blog and website project website. I could now add this to my skill set, which wasn't very much in the first place. I would say I am satisfied with my progress in writing and story posts. I think I have developed more as a reader, story-teller, and writer. There are some things that I definitely need to improve on my writing skills, like grammar and doing a better job at revising. I also need to improve in conveying my stories and developing them further. I would say my biggest accomplishment is just growing in my writing and creativity through my stories. My favorite readings so far were the stories from the Iliad. I was really proud of my story of Helen, although it probably needs revisions. So far, just taking notes of what I read has been working for great! I've enjoyed our assignments

There was a particular day where Fox was tired of Brer Rabbit outsmarting him and starting scheming up a plan to show Brer-Rabbit who he really is. He gathered material and started working hard to trick Brer Rabbit. His final creation, which he made from tar mixed with turpentine, was called Tar-baby. He put a hat on this doll-like creature and placed her on the side of the road that he knows Brer-Rabbit takes. He hid in the bushes waiting for his plan to come to fruition. It did not take long for Brer Fox to hear the bold confident steps of Brer Rabbit. When Brer Rabbit passed by Tar-baby he looked surprised to see this figure with a hat just sitting on the side of the road. He got on his hind legs and looked at Tar-baby and then said, " Good morning! Pleasant weather we are having!

He was about to make her his prey when she spoke suddenly. "Sir wolf I know you are hungry but before you devour me I ask you to think of my size and see that I am just a snack for your highness. There is a fox who is so fat that he can barely walk. If you eat him you will surely satisfy your hunger.  If it pleases you I will entice him out of his hole and if he seems fine for you to eat then you can devour him." The wolf was convinced by her words and told her to proceed with her plan. she told the wolf to remain outside while she went in. The rabbit thought to herself " Ah! I am free from the wolf and I will also have revenge on the Foc who chases me all the time." When she approached the fox the fox acted courteous to her and asked her what fortune brought her there.  " only the desire to see you worship

The king valued this falcon so much he fed it himself from his own hand and the falcon would be carried on the king's wrist during hunts. One day when the king and his court were on a hunt a deer crossed their paths and the king started to pursue him. The rest of the court could not keep up with the king's speed and the king somehow became separated from the group completely and could not conquer the deer. The king became hot and thirsty from his pursuit and he got off his horse and went in search of some water. After a long time, he encountered a hill with a small stream trickling down over the rocks. The king pulled a drinking cup from his sash and set it in under the stream until the cup was filled with water. When the king raised the cup to his lips to drink the hawk swooped over and knocked the cup
